Business Description:
Beer's been around for a long time, but most of us are just getting to know it. At Social Kitchen & Brewery, we're excited about learning more about beer, and we're excited to share in the experience. SKB is the perfect place to experience beer: our beer is brewed onsite, it's woven throughout our menu, and it's the inspiration for everything we do...
Beer's been around for a long time, but most of us are just getting to know it. At Social Kitchen & Brewery, we're excited about learning more about beer, and we're excited to share in the experience. SKB is the perfect place to experience beer: our beer is brewed onsite, it's woven throughout our menu, and it's the inspiration for everything we do.
Brew-master Rich Higgins is excited to share his passion and knowledge about beer. As the brew-master, he understands the process from recipe design and raw ingredients to fermented beer and the best way to taste it. And as a certified cicerone, he has studied the history of beer styles and their ability to pair perfectly with food.
He's careful not to forget that it's the yeast that's really in charge of the beer, though. "It's me that works for the yeast, not the other way around," he says. "Yeast has been fermenting beer for way longer than I've been around, and it'll carry on long after I'm gone. I'm just happy to be around for a little window of it, trying to influence a bit of the results."
To experience beer is not just to brew it or drink it, it's about learning about beer, experiencing new flavors, and enjoying beer with good food and good company. With cultural and social events, seminars, beer and food pairing dinners, open brew days, wort tastings, and our beer and food library, we're doing our best to teach and learn what beer is all about.
Check the brewery page events calendar for listings of Koln and Dusseldorf beer culture nights, beer and food pairing dinners, fermented foods classes, open brew days, and more. And if you're a home-brewer, feel free to contact us about picking up some free brewers yeast.
The Brewers Association recognizes 78 different style categories of beer, as well as numerous sub-styles, but most of us are only familiar with a handful of styles. Most of these 78 styles are drunk somewhere in the world on a daily basis. At SKB, we're renewing our vows with some forgotten styles and learning what makes them great beers. And as part of the American craft brewing renaissance, we're also trying our hand at some new styles and flavors.
So stop on by Social for a pint or two. Enjoy our beer, pair it with a bite to eat, and be part of the beer community. You're among friends.
