Old-time San Francisco food lives on at Mayes with a twist of modern entertainment. Mayes, the oldest seafood restaurant in San Francisco is under new ownership. Founded in 1867 by George Mayes, we are continuing with a traditional dominating seafood menu along with steak, chicken, pork and pasta dishes. I think we even have a vegetarian special available every night. Wow, a great range of food and a full bar that serves generous cocktails.

The oyster bar is overflowing with shellfish packed in ice and visible from the street. The "raw" menu only consists of the freshest available seafood.

Do not miss $1 oysters from 5-6:30pm everyday. If you like a party, music starts after dinning hours. 3 large TV's to enjoy a Football game or sit near the fire with your romantic partner. Enjoy the new Mayes.

Now I have never been here on the week-ends so I ain't witnessed an huge crowds here but have most definitely heard about the lines from friends who have been in them.
I have however been here on several happy hours for the $1 Oysters & pretty cheap drinks after work. (5:30 to 6:30)

Very relaxing inside, great fireplace seating & they have TV's. Very roomy venue & super clean restrooms very modern looking ones also.

Fantastic selection of Whiskeys/Bourbons & Scotches also an amazing selection of wines, about 40 to 50 I believe at last count.

Staff are very friendly & the bar staff know their trade. I don't often give 5 Stars but I cannot find any faults here, its super clean, great decor & very reasonably priced for the top quality food/drink and service.

Maye's is a unique venue in Polk streets party zone, adjacent to many of the hot spots on lower Polk.
With a great Happy Hour where not only the drinks are cheaper they do a great selection of $1 Oysters so this is a great place for after work.
I like to mix up between Mcteagues (right next door), Maye's & Lush lounge just across the Alley way.
The week-ends can be packed here with a younger crowd but you won't feel out of place.
Great DJ's here & they also have Karaoke.
I prefer the week days/evenings myself but that's my like's.
Another nice spot on Polk in my humble hood living opinion.
