Just going to give 5 stars & basically leave it at that. Since I work here it would be unfair & unprofesional of me to boast how good this bar is & how all the staff & owners are frakking AWESOME.
It would also be unfair of me to say how its the only bar in the imediate area that takes ALL major cards!
It would totally be unfair of me to say that its the ONLY bar in SF that makes use of most of the discount companies like Living Social, Scoutmob & trubates to name but a few to let our customers get the best deal in town.
Not to mention its the Head UFC bar in the city.
I will boast one thing.
This is the premier SF Giants supporters bar in the Bay Area hands down.

God I love this bar, this is the cities fore most SF Giants bar hands down, last night was like the World Series all over again, even though we lost, the fans here made the night.
Cheap beers & good bartenders & loads of Giants Fans all in their fan colors.

As a person in the Industry I have to say that the Blackthorn has certainly had a checkered history.
But like all bars that have been around for a number of years it takes the right people to get it to its peak.
That time is now(or the very near future)
Bar staff/management & owners know their collective stuff when it comes to running & operating a public house. The place successfully infuses the Irish History & today's inner Sunset populous.
They have Live music, Karaoke, Trivia (my fav) DJ's & a wide selection of LCD's to what almost every sporting event.
It is also the only Bar in the hood that accepts All major credit cards.

The Blackthorn is one of my favorite bars. I've been going here on and off for years, but lately it's my first choice when going out. The bartenders are nice, they are always doing specials or other activities at night (trivia, Karaoke, live music) and they have a great selection of beers. You can bring food in from one of the neighboring restaurants, and it's dog-friendly. And, you're just steps from several Muni lines so you can get home safe!
